“I so enjoyed the writing circle with the group “from away’s” connections and participation.
It was a joy and a gift! Thank you for doing this. My writing heart is home in your circles.” – Stephanie, Ontario, Canada
Fall Writing Circle on Zoom
Writing Life:
nourish yourself, honour your voice, write your stories
with Mary Ann Moore
A writing circle, whether in person or on Zoom, offers a calm, nurturing, and inspiring space where you can receive encouragement and support from fellow participants on the writing path.
In the Writing Life circle, we apply the ancient wisdom of the circle to a modern application: a sacred ceremony of writing, sharing and listening where each person is respected for their presence and contributions. A flower essence is offered (at the in-person circles) to invite and support inner exploration. No previous writing experience is necessary to embrace the fullness of your stories from life.
In the six – two-and-a-half hour sessions we spend together on Zoom, we’ll have a mini retreat of connecting to ourselves and to one another.
On Zoom wherever you are
Sept. 11 – Oct. 16, 2024
Six Wednesday mornings – 10:30 am to 1 pm Pacific time. Fee: $360
Theme: Memoir + Mythmaking: Opening to New Discoveries
Every circle has a theme and this time, Maureen Murdock’s book, Mythmaking: Self-Discovery and the Timeless Art of Memoir, has inspired our weekly themes. The writing of many other women authors will offer weekly inspiration as well. And of course, we inspire one another with our stories different from one another yet the same in many aspects. Together, we will support and encourage the sharing while developing one’s own voice.
You don’t have to be working on a memoir to join the writing circle – just be curious and open to new discoveries.
The purpose of our writing as it is with writing a memoir is “not merely to record the events of one’s life but to be conscious of how certain events in one’s life have shaped that life and continue to shape and expand it. Memoir is not only a recollection of the past but also a way of defining oneself in the present. Writing memoir shows the writer becoming aware of creating themselves.”
(Maureen Murdock, Mythmaking)
